Knoll's Iconic Wassily™ Chair Is Back!

The famous Wassily Chair is made of leather or canvas straps stretched on a tubular steel frame, and it was originally inspired by the curves of a bicycle. It was the first chair of its kind in 1925, and remains a celebrated symbol of modernism to this day.

Originally designed by Marcel Breuer, the structure sports the Knoll logo and the designer's signature (which guarantees its authenticity for life).

What’s new in 2024? Buyers can choose from three new colours: ultra-matt dark red, onyx and white that reinterpret the iconic shape of a piece of design history.

In 1925, Marcel Breuer was an apprentice at the Bauhaus when he reduced the classic club chair to its essential lines, forever changing the future of furniture design through tubular steel.

"I was very interested in the transparency of the form," said Breuer. After recognising the potential of this light, strong and malleable material, he realised that he could make the furniture he had imagined. The first prototype intrigued one of his friends, fellow artist Wassily Kandinsky, after whom the chair was named.
