Cassina Reissues Carlo Scarpa's Works
The Cornaro sofa, designed by the visionary Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa in 1973, has been redone by Cassina and included in the extensive and varied iMaestri collection.
This sofa stands out for its evocative design, characterised by a unique contrast in the materials used to make the geometric base and the soft seat. The upholstered parts of the backrest, seat and armrests are set into an imposing wooden structure, available in glossy lacquered beech or matt lacquered open-pore ash.
Cornaro's proportions have been updated to contemporary requirements through the collaboration with Tobia Scarpa. The sofa’s height and depth have been increased for a wider, more comfortable seat that better fits new consumer expectations. Cassina is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability by using innovative materials: recycled PET fibre for the padding and polyurethane with organic polyols and CIRCULARREFOAM® for the cushions. The sofa can be completely disassembled to make it easy to recycle the components.
In addition to the original sofa model, Cornaro is also available as an armchair or end element with two or three seats, which can be arranged in different configurations. Each piece bears the designer’s logo and signature, and a progressive model number.
