Platner Chair, Iconic Creation by Warren Platner for Knoll

It was 1966 when the Platner Collection by Knoll, the iconic pieces that Warren Platner created for Knoll, captured everyone’s attention with a series of new shapes. They were decorative, delicate and refined, and instantly became best sellers and pieces to imitate. These chairs influenced the vocabulary of modern design, being versatile as dining chairs but also as “honoured guest” chairs.

Platner is characterized by cast curved bronze rods in circular and semi-circular frames, and it exudes timeless elegance in both structure and decoration. These elements are finished with nickel plating and a protective transparent coating, also available with a painted finish in bronze or an 18 carat gold finish. The base has a transparent extruded plastic border that helps protect the floor from possible damage.

The finish is made with a moulded glass fibre shell, complete with cushions in variable density foam. Seat cushion covers have zippers and are fastened to the structure with Velcro buttons.
